Four years ago today...

...Tamantha and I were having a fun time together in New Orleans.
It was a Friday, and she woke me up that morning in a very 'personal' way, which I won't go into. We had breakfast at the Cafe Du Mond. We ate beinets and cafe aulait (coffee w/ milk).
That's where I took this picture; the last one ever of her.
It came out the way it did because, at the time, I didn't know how to turn off the camera's flash, and I didn't want it to wash out her face. So I put my hand over the flash, and it actually went through my hand and cast that red glow.

After breakfast we went walking around town, and wound up in the Virgin Records store. That's where I bought my copy of U2's 'All That You Can't Leave Behind'. A funny memory I have from then was when we were walking through the book department; we happened by the 'adult' books, and Tamantha notices a playgirl mag sitting out on a table. As she picks it up (out of curiosity I'm sure), and is thumbing through it, I'm saying "Oh sure! If that was a playboy, and I picked it up, you wouldn't mind at all, would you?" But, as I'm saying that, her eyes get big as saucers, she quickly closes the mag, puts it back down, walks quickly back to me, and with a somewhat embarrassed smile, says to me "that guy's thing was so small". That's kind of gross, I know, but I must say it was a bit of an ego boost for me...

That aside, this is now the worst day of the year for me, so I'll say what I like. I'm still madly in love with my wife, and I can't wait to see her again, one way or another.

--A work in progress, and subject to change--

Under the falling leaves I wander
through the chill of an early fall
my restless mind split asunder
for you my heart does call
although I look for someone new
my eyes see only you

Yes, it's about my wife.
Hey, I think about it this time of year.
